The Hindu Day at GUMed – HOLI holiday Celebration of spring – April 5th, 2022
Dear Students from India and/or of Hindu origin,
We are most pleased to invite you to „The Hindu Day at GUMed” on April 5th, 2022, 11:00-13:00 at the Welcome Point, building no. 13, Dębinki str. 7
March 18th, 2022 is the date for this year’s Holi Festival. Holi is a popular Hindu holiday to celebrate spring, joy, happiness, new life, and triumph of good over evil. At that time members of the Hindi community take part in the Festival of Colors, where they cast colorful powders or pour colored water at each other. This holiday is a festive day, when people forgive each other the offenses and trespasses of the past and choose to forget the harms sustained from others. In various parts of Europe and North America this festival has recently spread also as the festival of love and colors of spring. Dear Students, you make the third largest ethnic group among the international students at our university. We hope and wish you feel at home here. Therefore, we are organizing The Hindi Day at GUMed as a symbolic welcome of spring and to mark this major Holi holiday, celebrated both in India and in Hindi communities around the globe.
The program of the Hindu Day at GUMed includes: a presentation delivered by Mr. Sunil Ahuja (Gdańsk citizen and restaurant owner of Hindu origin) and his wife; exhibition of Hindu traditional dresses and outfits with try-on possibility; dance show; and tasting of some classic food of Hindu cuisine.
We are inviting you warmly to participate in this event and kindly ask you to join by filling in of the following registration form: link
If you have your own traditional costumes with you in Gdańsk, please consider bringing and presenting them live (on you)!
Best greetings! See you at the Hindu Day at GUMed!
