โน๏ธ Lecture: PhD Joanna Sarbiewska. Works at the Institute of Cultural Research at the University of Gdaลsk. Her academic interests include philosophy of mysticism, culture, film and media in a phenomenological and postsecular perspective. Recent research deals with the deconstruction as a new phenomenology, taken in the context of re-reading of the kenosis event in a mystical, apophatic approach, and its application in a transrational ontology and technological culture. She has authored the book โOntologia i estetyka filmowych obrazรณw Wernera Herzogaโ (“Ontology and aesthetics of Werner Herzogโs film images”) and has published many academic articles. An author of the film “Oglฤ
dy (Views), based on the novel Pokรณj (The Room)” by Jean-Paul Sartre. She used to be a president of Gdaลsk department of Polish Society of Film and Media Studies and a vice-president of Pomeranian Philosophical and Theological Society. A speaker at international conferences (organized, among others, by European Academy of Religion, Society for the Phenomenology of Religious Experience, International Federation of Philosophical Societies, European Network for Cinema and Media Studies).

โถ Cinematic Poland is an initiative of the Andrzej Wajda Film Center of the University of Gdansk, Medical University of Gdansk and the International Office of the University of Gdaลsk, an unit established to cooperate with the foreign part of the academic community. One of its tasks is to familiarize foreigners with Polish culture, including the history of Polish cinematography.
