LEAVING POLAND TO-DO LIST
- Closing bank account,
- Terminating the apartment rental agreement (if applicable) and any accompanying agreements (e.g., internet, television, etc.),
- Familiarizing yourself with tax settlement procedures in accordance with Polish law (in Poland, tax returns must be filed by April 30 of the following year for the previous year – based on the PIT form issued by the employer(s); it is worth ensuring that you notify the tax office of your foreign bank account number before leaving Poland in case a tax refund is possible),
- If you are leaving Poland during the procedure related to legalizing your stay (applying for a residence card), you must notify the Office for Foreigners of your planned departure and submit a request to close the case/discontinue the proceedings.
If you’re a graduate and planning to use your diploma abroad, please keep in mind that your diploma must be apostilled or legalized. An apostille / legalisation is a form of a certification which confirms the official status of a domestic document that needs to be used abroad. Polish National Agency for Academic Exchange has been authenticating documents awarded by Polish universities and the procedure is available on their website.
Don’t forget to complete those procedures before leaving Poland!
